Hi. Anoushay (_anoushay) here. I started KCL Comedy Society in 2019 from scratch, because there wasn’t a place to for me to try comedy so I made one. I’ve also been President for three years, so ComSoc has been a huge part of my life for a long time.

I started the society when I had literally never done comedy before. I had no idea if I’d enjoy it or be good at it and I was essentially learning how to do and help people make comedy from the ground up. It’s completely changed my life and self-perception, and hearing that Comedy Society has done the same for other people is incredible.

I worked really hard to build this society, but it also exists because of the huge number of people who helped me with my chaotic little scheme; particularly uclcomedyclub and sofiasmirnovax, who, despite being KCL rivals, helped me start the whole thing. The original committee were ibird_is_the_word, nav._10, camara.maia_, marathesayu, allleavesarebutterflies, and matthew_ader01, who - and I cannot stress this enough - had zero interest in comedy but just wanted to help me build something, and I am super grateful to them and all my other friends who did the same. joy.ceeee met us for three months before she moved back to the US and became so invested she ordered a ComSoc jacket last March, she is and has been brilliant. Also shoutout to committee members salekhonthemic jacobknyspel Aki and samareshrajnikanth for keeping the soc afloat at crucial moments this and last year.

But also thank you if you’ve ever come to a workshop (zoom or irl), come to an event, promoted something we’ve done, or heard me talk endlessly about the club or my material or my shows. All of this stuff has helped me and the society grow and that means the absolute world.

Here are pictures from the first 2019 fresher’s fair to the 2022 Edinburgh fringe last week. It’s been so, so much fun, KCL. over and out ✨
