On today’s #FridayFieldTrip, usfws Fisheries Ranger Miguel takes us behind the scenes at Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge in California. 

Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is not only the first but the largest urban national wildlife refuge in the country. This year, we’re celebrating the refuge’s 50th Anniversary – 50 years of conservation, providing habitat for several rare plants and wildlife including, the federally endangered salt marsh harvest mouse and Ridgeway’s rail. San Francisco Bay is situated along the Pacific Flyway and is the largest estuary on the West Coast.
