## Caption

Photo and text by Corey Arnold | Bristol Bay, Alaska is home to half of the world’s wild sockeye salmon and the commercial fishery provides jobs for over 15,000 people and this year produced about 250,000,000 meals of salmon! But humans are not the only ones benefitting from this mass migration of fish. The ecosystem of the bay depends on the millions of salmon returning every year upstream to spawn and die, providing food and energy to the bears, foxes, birds, marine mammals, fish, plants and other creatures that complete the cycle of life. I came face to face with a huge brown bear on the beach and she left me this memento.
