"This is possibly the most incredible observations ever taken by Hubble, and it only had to look into a galaxy right next door. These are the depths of Andromeda, our Milky Way's nearest spiral galaxy neighbor, located around 2 million light-years away and Hubble was able to resolve individual stars in this 61,000 light-year long section. In the full-resolution version, the individual stars look like grains of sand on a beach, 100 million in total." -Dr. Ian O'Neill, scientist and #DiscoveryNews Space Producer
Join us this week for an #instaspace #takeover! Today through Sunday, expert scientists will be sharing their favorite space images in honor of #Telescope, part of sciencechannel weekend on #Discovery.
