The COVID crisis put a stop to much of air travel, but with vaccines coming we're likely to see its return.

"Flight shaming" is the act of making someone feel guilty for the carbon impact of their #airtravel. But what if we could massively reduce that impact? Flight shaming would disappear.

You'll hear companies talk about #electricplane or hydrogen planes as technologies of the future. Maybe, but there are some serious problems around #battery weight and the energy density of hydrogen. What if we could simply replace the #jet fuel we use today with a carbon neutral alternative?

There are companies claiming to do this with #biofuel. However, this is not a scalable technology for global #aviation, at least not without huge environmental damage from #palmoil and other plantations.

But there is a little known process that offers a scalable "like for like" carbon neutral jet fuel. Electricity and heat from #nuclear plants can produce low cost #hydrogen from water. Carbon dioxide is then sucked from the air and (after some clever #chemistry) combined with hydrogen to make fuels. After all, hydrocarbons are nothing more than carbon and hydrogen.
