Since the introduction of BUGATTI’s W16 engine in the VEYRON in 2005, it has been regarded as a technical triumph.

Never before had there been such a powerful, yet compact and effortless, high-end powertrain in a production vehicle.

The idea first arose in 1997 when the exceptional engineer Ferdinand Karl Piëch, at the time Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, drew an 18-cylinder engine on an envelope during a train ride.
