The BUGATTI Divo is now on display in Molsheim’s Place de L’Hôtel de Ville in a specially commissioned illuminated glass cube. Night or day, thousands of Molsheim locals and visitors can appreciate it in intricate detail.

The man who honored BUGATTI’s coach-built masterpiece with his name, recently celebrated his 127th birthday: Albert Divo. Born on 24 January 1895 in Paris and baptized under the name Albert Eugène Diwo, the young Frenchman displayed a phenomenal understanding of technically complex systems and quickly got to grips as a technician and as a pilot in the First World War while continuing to work on the ground as a mechanic. The adrenaline rush was what lifted him into the sky and pushed him onto the road as a racing driver.
 
In 1928 Diwo started racing for BUGATTI and soon changed his name to Divo, which means ‘star’ in Italian. He won the famous Targa Florio in Sicily in the same year and again in 1929 in a Type 35 B. Over a period of 20 years Divo won many races in this model and its derivatives, including six Grand Prix races.
 
Albert Divo died in France in 1966, but stays in our minds through the BUGATTI Divo, the model with which the BUGATTI brand revived its highly successful coach-built tradition in 2018.
