It’s Friday, gang! And that also means #43GreenFriday – this week we introduce you to Jeff!

Now Habitat’s VP of Community Development for the Habitat Affordable Group, Jeff’s career path really began during his undergrad at the University of Colorado Boulder. Going to school as a political science major, Jeff worked as a carpenter during the summers. He decided that building houses was just as interesting as his college major, and after he graduated he decided to pursue this interest in carpentry! He moved to San Francisco and built + remodeled houses for 5 years. 🏗️🏢

Jeff moved to Chicago following this experience and began his graduate education, even interning for Valerie Jarrett, then Planning Commissioner, and future Habitat President and advisor to President Obama! After graduation, Jeff worked for Mayor Daley before joining the Habitat Team, where he once again had the opportunity to work for Valerie Jarrett. In his career, he relies on both his political science and carpentry expertise. In addition to working for the mayor in the past, Jeff has been invited to have lunch at the White House, and has been involved in the development of over 5,000 housing units!

So what does Jeff like to do besides improve our country’s affordable housing crisis? He loves to travel! In 1991, Jeff drove 9,000 miles in 12 weeks on a cross-country road trip. Having been to 47 of the 50 states (only missing Alaska, Montana, and Idaho!), he has even run with the bulls if you can believe that! Just this past week Jeff snorkeled with sea turtles in Mexico.

Enjoying life with his wife of 21 years, Meg (whom he refers to as “animal whisperer, social worker, and mom extraordinaire”), Jeff and Meg have 3 children and 3 pets!

Jeff brings so much value to the #Habitat team, and 43 Green wouldn’t have been possible without him!
