It's Friday - and you know what that means! It's time for another #43GreenFriday feature! This week we introduce you to Jack, Habitat's VP of Facilities Management & Engineering. 🏗️🦺🚧

A lifelong die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, Jack grew up in Chicago and was even an usher for Wrigley Field back in high school. His love of sports led him to start Habitat's corporate softball league a few years ago, and he spends at least 3 nights per week playing paddle ball & pickle ball.

When Jack - whose real name is Hagop (Armenian for "Jack") - takes a break from his sporting ventures, he loves to travel with his family. Last year, Jack and his wife, Renee, spent 2.5 weeks in Italy to celebrate their 25th Anniversary! He said the food was really good - but the wine was even better.

Jack chose to be an engineer because he excelled at math and science, but he's not a fan of needles and blood so being a doctor was out of the question! He was offered a job at NASA out of school, but he ultimately opted to work in the facilities department of S&C Electric, where his dad worked for nearly 30 years!

He was drawn to Habitat 8 years ago because of the opportunity to create safe, efficient, and comfortable homes for our residents. "Where do people want to feel safe and comfortable? In their homes, so that's what we do," Jack shared. His favorite part about his job is that each and every day is different.

Both of Jack's parents are Armenian, and he's fluent in the language! His dad was born in Jerusalem, and his mom was born in Aleppo, Syria. They moved to the US in the 1960s, and Jack spent his childhood going to an Armenian school.
