As a part of LGBTQIApril, our Diversity, Equity, and Belonging (DEB) Team brought our community together today in a Day of Silence. The Day of Silence is a national student-led demonstration where LGBTQ+ students and allies all around the country take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of harassment and discrimination of LGBTQ+ people. 

Students and faculty were given the option to wear black if they wanted to signify their complete silence or blue if they wanted to show allyship, but could not be silent for the measure of the day. All wore rainbow ribbons.

Our vow will be broken in a ceremony at the Hansen Quadrangle at 2 p.m. where students and faculty will have the chance to share their thoughts and experiences with other participants to build community and solidarity. #WeAreKentsHill #dayofsilence
