✨MONDAY MANTRA✨⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨The greatest characteristic an individual can utilize is to just “listen”. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨“Silence” is the most powerful skill/intervention one can use in therapeutic relationships as well as in non-therapeutic relationships.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
✨As individuals when we are engaging in trauma-informed care, it is imperative to provide a safe space for clients (or friends, family members, loved ones, etc.) to share their trauma narrative. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
✨This can be done by three essential characteristic’s Carl Roger’s (Humanistic Psychologist) states is significant for a therapist to have:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣
1. The therapist is 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭 with the client.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
2. The therapist provides the client with 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
3. The therapist shows an 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 understanding to the client.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨If you are a mental health professional and you are reading this, it is our role as a therapist to keep up with our continued education. It is not your client’s job to educate you. It is important to continue to educate yourself, seek consultation, training, and supervision as needed.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨If you are non-mental health professional, do not ask your friends from communities of color to educate you! They are tired of doing that, and they do not need to do that! You need to put in the work and continue to educate yourself through reading, attending trainings, watching documentaries, listening to podcasts, or engaging in advocacy work. ⁣⁣⁣
