He decided to represent El Salvador in 2021. “It’s a tough decision to make but it’s best that I allow someone else to have an opportunity,” RoldĂĄn said to reporters after training with Sounders. “I wasn’t fully commited and I was also just disappointed with the way things are operated over there.” He didn’t want to go into details about what exactly he was disappointed with. RoldĂĄn was one of several U.S. born players recruited by Hugo PĂ©rez, former USMNT player who was coaching El Salvador. PĂ©rez was sacked in September after disappointing results, and El Salvador brought in a whole new coaching staff from Spain. El Salvador have yet to win a game since June 2022, when they beat Grenada at home.
