1. Notice I said FULL and RECENT: FULL because everyone posts their highlights on Instagram or their website but seeing a full gallery will help you decide if this photographers style or level of service is enough for your package price. Recent because you want someone who’s been practicing! 

2. You want a photographer who isn’t going to be burnt out if your wedding is on Sunday and they’ve shot 2 weddings that weekend already! This isn’t always the case because I know wedding photographers who run on pure sugar and magic and are fine after a 3 wedding weekend but if this is something you might be worried about, talk to them! 

3. I personally shoot with 2 SD cards, both recording at the same time. Meaning if one of my SD cards gets corrupted (knock on wood*) your images are safe on the other! Ask if your photographers camera has this option! 

4. How long will you keep the RAW files? Most of the time, publishing your final images to an online gallery and downloading them works amazing. I have anxiety that one of these days these websites will crash and I will lose all my images so I keep my FINALs and RAWS backed up on a hard drive for 2 years. I have this in my contract as well. 

5. I carry back up equipment. As much as we love technology it lets us down. Camera goes faulty, SD card corrupts, batteries die. Make sure your photographer has back ups so that no part of your special day is missed due to technical difficulties. 

6. This is important! If you are expecting 1 shooter and I show up with an assistant or a second shooter it might be overwhelming. Especially in the case of “getting ready” photos, the rooms are often small and the brides comfort is the most important aspect of the day. 

7. Liability insurance, this covers your photographer for any issue. Let’s say your drunk uncle accidentally knocks into your photographer and breaks a lens (it’s happened) the photographer will have insurance and likely not have to sue your uncle or worse, you for the damages. (LENSES ARE EXPENSIVE)
