What is red light therapy (RLT)? What does it do? How does it work? ⁣

Glad you asked. ;) but in all seriousness - whenever I put it on my story I get quite a few Qs so I figured I’d just address it on my feed. ⁣
⁣
RLT exposes the body to low wavelength red light. It can penetrate deep into the skin where the cells can absorb it. The short and sweet answer to how it works is that it helps with cell regeneration. ⁣
⁣
The mitochondria (aka the powerhouse of the cell - hello high school science class) in the skin cells are what actually absorb the light particles which helps the cells produce more adenosine triphosphate (ATP) which is the energy source for all cells.⁣
⁣
One of the biggest benefits of RLT is the increased production of collagen (which is the largest protein source in your body). Having more collagen helps with your skin elasticity, your hair and nails, among other things. RLT also helps increase the circulation between blood and tissue cells all while protecting cells from damage. Anyone else spend way too much time in the sun in their youth?! Yeah, me either haha.⁣

Red light has benefits when it comes to healing wounds, acne, hair growth, general inflammation and so much more. ⁣

I utilize RLT about three times a week for about 15-18 mins each time!⁣

When the Recovery Room first got red light therapy a few months ago I was intrigued, but the more studying and research I did on it made me become fascinated. Science is so cool. :)⁣
