Ryan Kerrigan has been the best Washington player of the past decade. A productive defender and a bright spot in some dark seasons, Kerrigan has been a pro’s pro. With new starters in the building however and an expiring contract, RK’s future is up in the air. Here’s what we’d do:

Jess:
Kerrigan is everything you want in a player and has been the leader of Washington’s pass rush since 2011. With Chase Young and Montez Sweat in the fold now however it is hard to justify giving Kerrigan the money he’s looking for. His snaps decreased throughout the year and although still productive, Kerrigan has taken a step back. If Washington could keep him for a very manageable rotational deal, then fantastic. With everything he has said this offseason though, he’s looking for a starting spot and starter money; both things WFT cannot offer him.

Justin:
Unfortunately, it seems like Kerrigan, the all-time sack leader in franchise history, time has come to an end in Washington. It’ll be tough to see the heartbreak kid put on a different uniform, but there’s no doubt that I will be rooting for him wherever he goes. Kerrigan wants an opportunity to start again and with the additions of Sweat and Young, that opportunity won’t come in Washington. On the open market, Kerrigan will likely be offered more than what the WFT will be willing to pay to keep him.
