Wednesday marked five years since Osaze Osagie’s death. Members of the community gathered at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza to honor Osagie’s legacy. 

Osagie was a 29-year-old Black man who was shot by a State College police officer serving a mental health warrant on March 20, 2019. He had had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and Asperger’s syndrome.

Many speakers, including a friend of Osagie’s, and students from the Penn State NAACP chapter shared memories of Osagie and discussed the next steps toward justice.
