Please join us in congratulating Dwayne Bensing GED'09 L'12 who was recently promoted to legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Delaware! In this role, he will lead the organization's legal department and build on the organization's capacity to advocate for civil rights.

Before joining the ACLU in 2020, Dwayne spent three years with the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights and two years with the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) Civil Rights Division. While at the DOJ, he served on a counsel team in litigation over a North Carolina law that limited transgender state employees' access to restrooms. Dwayne's prior experience also includes two years as a litigation associate at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson LLP. While there, he was on a counsel team that represented a transgender man in a federal sex discrimination case.
