The United Church of Rogers Park openly welcomes LGTBQ people in its pews and in church leadership. The congregation recently split from the larger United Methodist Church, which recently voted to uphold its ban on LGTBQ people from becoming ministers. The Rogers Park church is the second Reconciling Congregation to be formed in the United States. “The solidarity of the cross tells us that no one will be free until we are all free,” said Pastor Lyndsey Long.
