cmndepaul freshman Justin Pierce runs his fingers over a raised-text edition of Biblical passages from 1837 at the newberrylibrary. Pierce, who can read Braille, said he was surprised to learn that books for the visually impaired were produced that long ago. depaulu students in robinhoecker’s Intro to Mass Communication class also handled pages of the Gutenberg Bible (1455), an illustrated Book of Revelations (~1630), an abolitionist poster (1789) and other early print materials related to their lesson on the impact of the printing press.
