Nicknamed “The Christmas Star,” these two planets (Jupiter and Saturn) have not appeared closer together in the night sky since 1226 C.E. The phenomenon will not occur again until 2080, and will after that not occur until 2400. Some say this same phenomenon was witnessed by the wisemen on the night of Jesus’s birth in 2 B.C.E.
