After being excluded from the initial call-up, Haji Wright was about to go on vacation with his family to spend the international break.

When Josh Sargent withdrew due to injury, Gregg Berhalter gave Wright a call. The big striker was already at the airport ready to board the flight when he picked up.

Last night, he came off the bench to score a brace for the USMNT in extra time— sending them to the Nations League final.

“I’m happy to be here to repesent my country and I’m happy for the result,” Wright told CBS Sports afterwards.
