It goes without saying that the past couple of weeks has been both challenging and eye opening for our communities and country. I haven’t posted anything because I don’t really feel like it has been my turn to speak.  I’ve also been worried about saying the wrong thing. Instead I’ve been listening, reading and educating myself so that I can make the most informed choices possible. There is still a ton of work to be done, but I’m hopeful for meaningful change through groups like the Black Lives Matter movement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to make one thing clear for all of our clients, colleagues, friends, followers and members of the KRP family: we have not and will never tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind. We have celebrated diversity ever since we started our business back in 2006 and my wife is also from South America. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fact: the first wedding I ever shot was an African American couple who got married at a baptist church in front of their entire congregation. I’ll never forget the wedding for two reasons. First, the way that the couple looked at each other gave me goosebumps and hooked me on the “wedding bug”. Secondly, the church was dark, even the altar. I tried to use a tripod (I was shooting film). Every time there was singing and applause the entire ground shook so bad I couldn’t make a picture. I learned a lot and still carry the same values through both my personal and professional lives today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
