"Flying in to the city of Xiamen on China’s southeast coast felt like something out of a science fiction movie: glittering lights, buildings rising from dark green hills and the low fog of a cool morning. Maybe it was just the overcast sky and the lush colors, but the juxtaposition of the natural and the man-made reminded me that the combination of the two can be so beautiful."
