## Caption

The PatekPhilippe reference 3450 was first launched in 1981 and can be divided into two series. The first series can be distinguished with its red indicator for the leap year whereas the second series and more common of the two, is fitted with an Arabic leap year indicator. The second series was first introduced in 1982 and the reference was discontinued in 1985. According to literature, 244 pieces were known to be made and the majority of which were cased in yellow gold and with only a handful of examples known in white gold.

The present lot is from the first year of production of the second series. It is a very clean and crisp example and was purchased 10 years ago at public auction and remained in an important private collection ever since. The dial is in very attractive and original condition. The case with good proportions and nice crisp hallmarks to the band.
