LDN – Detail 1/6. Marc Newson’s iconic Lockheed Lounge harks back to an earlier version, the LC1. Inspiration came from the shape of the Recamier; 18th century chaise longues, seen in French paintings. The success of the LC1 was overwhelming. From 1986 – 1988, Newson reshaped the LC1 into a smoother, more flowing work, called the Lockheed Lounge after the American aircraft manufacturer.
