Over the next few weeks, we'll be featuring some of our #TerrierTransfers leading up to the Transfer Application Deadline! Stay tuned to learn more about why they chose to transfer to BU.

#TerrierTransfers meet Sydney Huston (BFA '24), a sophomore majoring in Painting and pursuing a duel degree with an MA in Art Education.

When asked about her transition to BU, Sydney said it was "more seamless than I expected! I had never lived in a city before, so I was nervous about being in such a bustling environment and crossing busy streets. Additionally, I was worried about how my workload would compare to my previous college experience. After only a few days in Boston, I grounded myself and managed my time effectively."

Sydney knew BU was the right choice for her due to the creative freedom the program offers her.

Sydney shared, "One specific experience that made me happy that I transferred to BU occurred toward the end of the Fall 2021 semester. My professor allowed us to choose a research topic related to the class, and from there, we could create anything that demonstrated our learning. I never had that much freedom when creating a project before, but I can confidently say that it was one of the most enjoyable research projects I’ve ever done. It was also super cool to see what other students made! It was really exciting to be in such a creative and supportive environment."

Sydney also enjoys the many resources BU has on campus for transfer students, namely "the Transfer to BU (TTBU) program and the First Year Student Outreach Project (FYSOP). TTBU is a program by transfer students that provides a smooth transition for incoming transfers! Additionally, FYSOP is a weeklong community service project available to first-year and transfer students the week before fall semester classes start. I did FYSOP last semester, and I connected with other transfer students while doing community service around the Boston area!"

Stay tuned for more #TerrierTransfers!
