#BUFeatureFriday: bu_urop 

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) funds Boston University students that are conducting research with Boston University faculty. Any enrolled undergraduate student (first year through senior) can apply for UROP funding. Both international and domestic students are eligible. Students have conducted research in every discipline on campus from engineering to classics and theater. Students can apply for UROP funding with any Boston University faculty member. This includes on the Charles River and Medical Campuses. 

UROP staff offer general research inquiry appointments to meet with students who are interested in engaging in research but may not be sure where to start. UROP also offers application feedback appointments so that students can get feedback prior to submitting their application. UROP typically funds 60% of the applications that they receive. Applications are accepted on a semester basis (Fall, Spring, Summer). Applications are accompanied by letters of recommendation that must be written by the faculty member overseeing the research project.

Fun Fact: In the Summer, UROP has a special award called the Humanities Scholars Award (HSA) to encourage work in the humanities.
