As part of a project on being #MuslimInAmerica, @cnnireport is exploring the lives of five American Muslims.
Meet Aisha Yaqoob. At 22, she's pursuing a master's degree from #UGA, organizing efforts to get Muslim Americans to vote. She hopes to work in local or state government someday. This Suwanee, Georgia, resident says a frequent stereotype she faces is that people think she’s foreign. “It's always funny when I get comments about how well or eloquently I speak,” she says. "Most people assume I am very soft-spoken or would have an accent, but as a Pakistani American, I’m pretty sure I have an almost Southern accent.” "My style is classy and comfortable with a classic red lip,” Yaqoob says.
