Stella Ditt embarked on a mission to document the extraordinary and easily startled mara in the Valdés Peninsula, Argentina. Filming part of the National Geographic series "Planeta Selvagem: Argentina," Ditt strategically positioned herself before sunrise, concealing her presence for days in front of the maras' den, who are known for their instinctive fear of humans. Armed with a RED #VRAPTOR and a Canonusa CN20 lens, Ditt patiently waited for the opportune moment when the adult females would call their hidden babies to feed. However, nature had a surprise in store. Instead of a routine call, one of the females commenced the birthing process, unveiling a breathtaking and unique spectacle.

Capturing such elusive and natural behaviors to build a great natural history sequence requires not only technical expertise but also a profound understanding of wildlife and their habitats. Ditt's commitment to waiting, often for hours, bore witness to the marvels of nature.
