The RED V-RAPTOR recently clawed its way to over 16,000ft the highest point in Antarctica with expedition.studios cinematographer renan_ozturk.

“This was for a big streaming series covering a real expedition so we didn’t have a huge crew and needed something large format that was not cumbersome and could shoot anamorphic, desqueezing in camera. I shot the V-RAPTOR in a configuration with a KOWA primes, GDU side handle, on board phantom powered shotgun, Tenticle sync for timecode, screw on Tiffen ND and a custom cable that allowed me to keep the battery warm in my puffy jacket while the camera body lightweight. We pushed through -40 degree temps, a pretty gnarly wind storm and the challenging glare of the 24h daylight without a single glitch. I had a monitor hood but never used it, the SmallHD / RED monitor was a huge step up in brightness and make it super easy to control the camera and pop between insane frame rates/resolution combos...to put it simply, the new monitor made it more fun and immersive to shoot! At one point my other fellow cinematographer pablo_durana and I got carried away shooting in an ice storm with 50mph winds without camera covers and there was ice embedded deep inside the V-RAPTOR. Not many cameras would have come back from that, cool to see it pass all these extreme stress tests for this powerful story coming soon!”
