Photo by renan_ozturk | Our team just returned from a remote adventure shooting the MONSTRO in the Kuril Islands. A story of the unseen masterpieces of earth and the scientist fighting to protect it. At the end of the journey we visited Aniva lighthouse on the SE tip of Sakhalin, a 1939 Japanese decommissioned nuclear lighthouse. Every room was straight out of a Chernobyl set with layers upon layers of texture and nesting birds. At the tippy top the multi layered glass orb of the light itself drew us all in like moths to a flame as we crawled around it shooting photos of its unique light refracting properties. It was only later the crew told us that the lighthouse was still radioactive with rooms marked off limits.
