Here's buckarooshooter capturing the moment Dr. Edith Widder was about to go down looking for Humboldt squid off Chile. Dr. Widder, or "Edie" as she's known, is a really fascinating and accomplished scientist. She was instrumental in capturing the first footage of a live giant squid on camera by developing this electronic bait called the "e-jelly." Some deep-sea creatures have a defense mechanism where they light up to attract a bigger predator to attack whatever's attacking them. The e-jelly lights up in the same way by drawing the squid in to investigate. As well as doing science with Dr. Widder, we were also shooting for #BluePlanet2. You can see the footage in Episode 2, "The Deep." There's a crazy sequence where one squid attacks another squid, then an even bigger squid comes in and attacks that one. #ShotonRED ⁣
