This Day in Union History: January 25, 1937 
After management fires two boiler room engineers for union activity, Transport Workers Union (TWU) begin a sit-down strike inside a Brooklyn power plant. A picket line outside the power plant defends and supplies those inside. Two days later engineers were rehired after members announced they would cut power the city’s subway lines.
