Surfers and marine life have a lot in common including dependence on the ecosystems that make our lives or sport possible. Today for #WorldSeagrassDay we’re excited to highlight a few of those benefits as seagrass ecosystems have a multifunctional role in human well-being. Check out a few of the ecosystem services provided by seagrasses below from our #weareoneocean coalition partners:

🌊 Like the coral reefs and rainforests of the tropics, seagrass meadows are diverse and home to many animals. 

🌱 Did you know, just one hectare of seagrass can support up to 80,000 fish and 100 million invertebrates

💙 Seagrass beds are an important #ClimateAction allies, storing up to 18% of oceanic carbon.

🌱 Seagrass roots stabilize ocean sediment improving water quality and reducing coastal erosion
