Describe how you work as co-creators after three installments of the Citizen trilogy.

Oliver: We don't need to divide the work into parts and create separately before piecing them together. Because we have adapted to each other as friends, and on a deep personal level. I guess the challenge is in negotiating our schedules.

Xiaoyi: Although we're very different creators, we can accommodate and challenge each other in the process, and help each other to make progress. I've always believed that dialogue and reflection are the most precious parts of a creation and a creator, and this is true for the Citizen Series. I'd like to thank Oliver for elevating my text and performance in this journey.

Liu Xiaoyi and Oliver Chong are collaborators on the ‘Citizen’ series, the last of the trilogy being Citizen X, staged by fingerplayers as part of #huayi2021 from 19-22 Feb.

Seeing Double pairs two #huayi2021 artists from the same show to explore their dynamics as well as to provide insights into their performances.
