Charles Lazaroo had four siblings, but he was the only one who got sent for piano lessons by his mother. And it's a good thing she did because he went on to become a Singapore arts pioneer who was an instrumental figure in music development on the island! He was also a prolific musician and a groundbreaker who blended musical influences from the different cultures in Singapore together. #sgjazzfact In 1981, he released a jazz album The Exotic Touch with fellow pianist David Ng, which featured jazz interpretations of traditional Asian tunes.
