Montreal just committed a great act of ignorance, discrimination, and quite possibly murder. Breed Specific Legislation is ignorant, ineffective, and WRONG. I am sad, horrified, and speechless. So here are words from journeyofnana: "It is a sad, sad day in Montreal. The Mayor stood firm and continued to base his arguments on emotions rather than facts. 37 voted for the bylaw, 23 voted against. This ban will affect approximately 1.8 million people. The bylaw also allows the Burroughs to add any breed of dog to the ban as they see fit, "if another breed becomes dangerous."
I am so sorry, Montreal.
Stay tuned on how to help the "pit bull type dogs" currently homeless in MTL shelters so we can hopefully prevent the needless mass murder of thousands of loving dogs that will soon begin. There is also word on a law firm submitting an injunction to fight this in court.
