When we decided to postpone our original wedding, I also made the decision to save the wedding dress I had planned to wear. Not only was it not ready in time for our elopement, but, for sentimental and personal reasons I wanted to wear my white gown when I could walk down the aisle with my father as a bride. It felt symbolic to declare our love amongst family and friends and save that moment- one I have dreamt of - for our sequel wedding experience next year.

With 3 weeks to pull together my wardrobe I knew I would have to be open minded to what was available in the short period of time I had. Wearing vintage was something that was important to me and like a good stylist I went out to my network of resources. I knew I wanted to wear a color, ideally something that would look beautiful at sunset, and I knew it needed to be an airy tulle or chiffon so that it could catch the wind, and most importantly it needed to be something that wouldn’t feel out of place on a beach!

After countless strikes out, I was a less than a week away from our travel with no dress. In a final attempt I reached out to the one and only Cherie from ShrimptonCouture. She generously pulled this dreamy vintage maisonvalentino out of her personal archive for me. It needed a new slip and a hem, but was otherwise it was perfect in every way. Thanks to my magical seamstress, it was altered and ready to go literally 1 day before I flew to St. Barths.

I completed the simple look with a crown of roses (hand carried on ice from the US and designed by fbsa60!), borrowed vintage earrings from leightonjewels, and carried a swarovski encrusted judithleiberny conch shell minaudière in which I kept my vows folded up and tucked inside, a pair of sand friendly espadrilles completed the look. 🌴🐚💗👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻‍♂️

Thank you to ShrimptonCouture for making my vintage dress dreams come true!!! #somethingold
