ARMSTEAD, GILLAN POST HOME WINS ON NFL WEEK 10

Former University of Arkansas At Pine Bluff football standouts Terron Armstead and Jamie Gillan and their respective teams posted home wins during NFL Week 10 action.

Armstead and the New Orleans Saints defeated the San Francisco 49ers 27-13, while Gillan and the Cleveland Browns downed the Houston Texans, 10-7.

Armstead and the Saints’ offensive line played perhaps even a bigger role in victory, as future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees did not play after halftime after suffering an apparent rib injury in the first half. QB Jameis Winston came off the bench to finish the game and seal the victory.
 
The Saints’ offense gained 17 first downs and 237 total yards as New Orleans improved to 7-2 and maintained the top seed in the NFC.

Gillan and the Browns improved to 6-3 in the victory in blustery conditions, as the contest was delayed about 35 minutes due to weather. Gillan averaged 43.5 yards on four punts with a long of 45 and one downed inside the 20. Gillan had punts of 45 yards in both the first and second quarters, a 44-yard punt in the third quarter, and a 40-yard punt in the fourth quarter.

Both teams return to action next Sunday on FOX with home games at noon, as the Saints will host Atlanta and the Browns host Philadelphia.
