GILLAN, ARMSTEAD TO PLAY AT HOME IN NFL WEEK 3

Former University of Arkansas At Pine Bluff football standouts Jamie Gillan and Terron Armstead return to action Sunday in home contests in NFL Week 3.

Gillan and the Cleveland Browns (1-1) will host Washington (1-1) at noon on FOX. Armstead and the New Orleans Saints (1-1) will play their second straight prime time game when they host the Green Bay Packers at 7:20 p.m. on NBC.

Cleveland won its first game of the season last week in a 35-30 Thursday night victory over Cincinnati.  With the efficiency of the Browns’ offense in victory, it was a quiet night for Gillan, the second-year pro who made the roster last year as an undrafted free agent. Gillan punted once for 43 yards in the second quarter in his only kick of the night. On the season, Gillan is averaging 45.0 yards on four punts, with a long of 59. 

The Browns face a Washington team coming off a 30-15 loss last Sunday at Arizona. QB Dwayne Haskins has passed for just over 400 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

For Armstead and the Saints, they will look to bounce back from a 34-24 loss at the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night. New Orleans led 10-0 after one quarter and 17-7 late in the first half before the Raiders took control. He eighth-year pro anchored the offensive line that helped the Saints gained 424 yards of total offense, with 312 via the passing game.

The Sunday night showdown will feature a battle of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks in the Saints’ Drew Brees and Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is off to a fast start for the Packers, passing for more than 600 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions.
