Madeline spends her days ensuring all Oliver custies can love their new spaces completely stress-free — and we love her for that. (And...if you’re a current customer you’ve probably even chatted with Madeline on our website chat 🙃).

• How many places have you lived? 
M: I moved 11 times, just counting cities. I’ve lived in Beijing for part of my childhood, did a stint in Madeira mid-pandemic, and just relocated to a cozy town in the majestic mountains of Western North Carolina. 

• Fave design trend? 
M: Rounded, maximal sofas - in white or cream.  I’m having a love affair with textured, soft fabrics like bouclé that page homage to the 70s and just beg you to curl up and be held. That nostalgic beckoning of afternoon nap with the perfect slice of sun on your face. Everyone needs that piece that is your safe haven. 

• Fave non-furniture accent piece? 
M: Coffee table books. The Secret Language of Birthdays is one my parents always had on our coffee tables since before I was born - it pulls from astrology, numerology and over 30 years research. When I got my first place, I bought myself a copy! It's kind of like this unspoken rule in my home now...when someone comes over, at some point we mosey over to the sofa and look up their birthday in the book. It's a fun way to open up a room and see how someone sees themselves, what excites them, who they are. 

• Design advice? 
M: If you’re in the process of moving and everything is everywhere, settle in by creating one small space that feels complete - this could literally be a corner of a room. Mine is a collection of special objects on my dresser - a candle, a handwritten note from my love, my favorite perfume. Romance the chaos, create a still point to come back to. 🌹
