Vanessa OBrien is a British-American mountaineer, explorer and former businessexecutive. She became the first British or American woman (as a result of her dualnationality) to summit K2, the second tallest mountain in the world on 28 July 2017.
.
She received Explorer of The Year from the SES in 2018.
Vanessa has been featured in the Guinness World Records for climbing the highest peak on every continent (the Seven Summits, 295 days), is recognized for completing the Explorers Grand Slam (Seven Summits plus the last degree to the north and south poles, 11 months), and has summited 5 of the 14 eight thousand meter peaks (peaks over 26,000 feet) including two back-to-back 8 days apart.

Vanessa serves as an honorary ambassador for Pakistan and coordinates her efforts to promote a positive image of Pakistan through the High Commission for Pakistan to the UK, is a honorary ambassador for US Nepal Climbers Association, serves as a member of the Board of The Explorers Club (TEC), a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS), and a member of the Scientific and Exploration Society (SES). She has her MBA from the Stern School of Business, New York University.
