While the history of Mexico’s beloved art of lucha libre spans several generations, the history of the sport in Oregon is much shorter. Tsuky founded Portland Lucha Libre well over a decade ago, inspired by the work of “Tito,” a local gym owner in Hillsboro who occasionally hosted lucha libre matches in the early 2000s.

“More than anything, it’s something spectacular, like nothing you’ve seen.”

This is Tsuky’s promise. The founder and president of Portland Lucha Libre, known only by his luchador name per the sport’s cultural tradition, organized Portland’s first female lucha libre championship. The match, delayed for several years due to scheduling complications, brought headlining luchadoras Scarlett Rose the Queen of Hearts and Diosa Quetzal to the ring.
