For four years, Tim tried to sell his invention, receiving rejection after rejection. Knife companies called it a tool. Tool companies called it a gadget. Neither were interested and list of companies who rejected Tim’s invention piled up: Gerber, Kershaw, Stanley, Channellock, Buck, Case, etc. etc. 
Frustrated but not defeated, he partnered with his college friend to create his own company and introduce the world’s first multi-tool, the PST. Today, we celebrate Leatherman’s 35th Anniversary by looking back at the rejection letters he received.
