The list of Canadian drivers, historic visitors to the IndyCar Series, will be further reduced next season. Indeed, with the departure of Dalton Kellett, only one representative of the great North American state remains: Devlin DeFrancesco, an Italian-Canadian millennial from Toronto. 

After a long run-up, which has passed through many motorsport categories, Dev will race in 2023 for the Andretti factory team, alongside the veteran Romain Grosjean and the young Yankees Colton Herta and Kyle Kirkwood. After elbowing in Europe between formula 4 (British and Italian), Euroformula Open and the FIA F3 championship (born in 2019 from the merger of GP3 Series and European F3) his "Road to Indy" begins in 2020. That year DeFrancesco is engaged in Indy Pro 2000 (the second preparatory series of Indycar), where he will end the season in second place with two victories and six podiums, gaining access to IndyLights the following year, again with the Andretti team Autosport. The sixth place finish will finally open the doors for him in 2022 to the top American open-wheel series. 

In parallel to this, the native of Toronto participates from 2018 to 2022 in the IMSA championship for sports prototypes collecting as many participations in the famous 24 Hours of Daytona, a race that the Canadian will be able to win in 2022 in the LMP2 class with the Dragon Speed USa Team, dividing the car with Colton Herta, Eric Lux and Patricio O'Ward.
