May 30, 2021.
7308 days after his first career win at the Indy500, Helio Castroneves - 46-year-old native from Sao Paulo - triumphs for the fourth time (2001, 2002, 2009) at Indianapolis reaching Foyt, Unser and Mears’ record of wins.

After stopping his Dallara in front of the newborn team Meyer Shank Racing, heliocastroneves aims at the protection nets of the most famous ring in the world and begins to climb, as he had not done since Iowa 2017, as if he were Spiderman.

The tradition behind this gesture dates back to 2000, on the occasion of his first victory - in the so called CART series - on the Detroit circuit. After two difficult seasons at the wheel of the Penske team due to the tragic death of Greg Moore, as soon as the Brazilian inherits the head of the race from Montoya a whirlwind of emotions overwhelms him in those last 5 laps.

"When I was crossing the finish line, I could not believe it - he says - I was unbuckling my belt and the car was still running. I was crying and screaming. I wanted to get out of the car and start jumping, like when someone scores a goal in soccer. I wanted to run. So I went straight to the finish line. I don't know why. I saw the crowd go crazy; I ran to them and climbed the fence. It was a crazy move, but it turned out to be very good".

A peculiar way of celebrating was created on that day, with the Detroit skyline in the background. The fans went crazy, the media loved it and even the stuffed shirts in charge of the CART organisation loved it.

At the end of that first historic celebration, John Kernan - journalist for ESPN - was the first to give Helio the nickname of Spider-Man. A gesture that has become iconic and that the Brazilian has repeated 25 times.

The four second places in the championship (2002, 2008, 2013, 2014) and that missing title always eluding from him do not matter. "Spider Man" will always be remembered for his charisma and personality, as one of the few drivers who are not afraid to show their emotions.
