The 2022 season of the NTT Indycar Series is a rollercoaster of emotions: 8 different winners in 14 races, 9 different polemen and 7 drivers within the space of 59 points in the standings. The victory of Scott McLaughlin at St. Petersburg, the first round of the season, represented the only case where the poleman managed to triumph under the chequered flag on Sunday. As a matter of fact, there have been incredible comebacks, as demonstrated last Sunday by Scott Dixon, who was able to break Michael Andretti's record for victories by starting from 14th position on the Nashville street circuit.

The season opened with a Penske hat-trick. If Florida gave McLaughlin his first career triumph, the Texas oval and the glamorous city of Long Beach saw Newgarden win twice. He is the current record holder in terms of wins this season (4).
The fourth round in Alabama saw O'Ward (Arrow McLaren) break Penske's winning streak. May is the month of Indy and, while it was Herta to triumph under the rain on the Road Course, two weeks later it was Ganassi to rejoice for the Indy 500 with Ericsson, who took the first Indy win and the leadership of the championship, thanks to the double points awarded. He will retain this lead until the return to Indianapolis (30 July), when he will be overtaken by Will Power, winner of the seventh round at Detroit. It was then Newgarden's turn again at Road America and McLaughlin's at Mid-Ohio.

This was the start of a series of five consecutive GPs that opened and closed in the sign of Scott Dixon, who became a legend, first equalling (Toronto) and then surpassing (Nashville) Andretti's historic record. In between were the victories in the dual in Iowa by Newgarden and O'Ward and that of Alexander Rossi again on the Indianapolis road course layout.

There are now three races left: the Illinois oval, the Portland track before the grand finale on the Laguna Seca circuit and its iconic 'corkscrew'. Who will triumph? Tell us your opinion in the comments.
