After Saturday's rain, the sun finally shines on the legendary ups and downs of #RoadAmerica on the occasion of the start of the eighth of 17 rounds of the 2022 NTT Indycar Series. 

#rossi and Newgarden lead confidently as a series of yellow flags (4 in the first 10 laps) follows, and the title challengers get eliminated one after another. First is #Palou (4th in the championship) after 4 laps, following a fratricidal duel with team-mate #MarcusEricsson . On lap 8 it is Power's turn (championship leader), who goes off the track after a tough duel with DeFrancesco, which forces him to re-enter at the back of the pack. 

The race for the top seemed to be decided on lap 18 when the two leaders Rossi and Newgarden entered the pit at the same time. At the exit, however, it is the Penske team driver who gets the better of them and overtakes the number 27 of the Andretti team. 

The race runs smoothly until eight laps from the end, when another one among the bigs, #PatoOWard (3rd in the championship) is forced to retire due to an issue at the electrical system. 

The final laps come between yellow and green flags, among which several duels take place as well, with Ericsson being able to overtake Rossi for the runner-up spot but with no one able to counter the strength of the two-time Indycar champion Josef Newgarden, who gets his third win of the season. 

A race that saw the great performance of Rosenqvist and a revived Graham Rahal, from 22nd to eighth, both with a different strategy from the rest of the pack.

The overall standings now see Ericsson retake the lead with 27 points ahead of Will Power and 32 ahead of today’s winner, Josef Newgarden.
