Top#1: Will Power

When it’s a matter of comebacks, no one is like Team Penske's Australian driver. Power went from 16th to first in the space of a few laps and became the fastest driver of the day on both black and red-rimmed tires. He was also able to manage his wide lead over Rossi when the race called for it...what else should we expect from him?

Top#2: Alexander Rossi

There were no chances for him against a super Will Power, but Rossi was the only driver able to make the tactic of starting on softs work. On the weekend on which occurred the announcement of his official move to the Arrow McLaren SP team in 2023 (after 7 years with the Andretti team), Rossi showed a solid pace in both qualifying and the race. With 71 instead of the expected 70 laps, he would perhaps have collected more than the place of honor.

Top#3: Felix Rosenqvist

Last year Detroit was the scene of a very bad crash for him, and bad luck seemed to hit him on Saturday as well when he was relegated to the last box of the grid for an "impeding" on Jimmie Johnson. On Sunday, however, he transformed and, on the very last lap, taking advantage also of Veekay's mistake, he managed to score an unhoped top 10 entry at the end of a race, which was all about overtaking and keep a regular pace.

Bonus Driver: David Malukas 

He is probably the biggest surprise of the Detroit weekend. In qualifying, he was repeatedly the fastest, the only one along with Pato O'Ward to regularly run under 1:15". In the race, he shrimped a bit but finished just outside the top 10, a result that allowed him to classify as the best rookie of the race.
