This week, our SOF student highlight is senior geology major, Aster Oliver.๐Ÿ…๐Ÿงก What does the No. 1 Student Experience mean to you? The number one student experience for me means having access to resources to connect me with the campus. Access to leadership opportunities through the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement, equal access to the classroom through student accessibility services, connection to my identity and to other cultures through the Gantt Multicultural Center, support and resource connection in challenging situations through the Office of Advocacy and Success and learning how to translate my student experience into marketable skills for my future career through the Career Center. There are so many resources here that I haven't even explored them all! What have been some of your favorite parts of your Clemson journey? My favorite part of my Clemson journey has been discovering my passion for community building. Community has been such an important part of my journey starting with my living learning community and residence life. Through the residence hall association I've been able to create community in my residence hall and as an executive board member I've helped others create community within residence halls across campus. I've found community in identity based organizations like Clemson Sexuality and Gender Alliance and Under the Umbrella. Both of which I now hold leadership positions in and get to continue to create that community for more LGBTQ+ students to experience. Additionally I've found my faith community in Clemson Wesley, connected new Clemson students to the Clemson community as an Orientation Ambassador and found community within my major through Geology club. What does Clemson mean to you? Clemson means access. Having access to resources, community, dedicated faculty and staff, and experiences I never even imagined would happen in college.
